There are only two NFL players who have publicly acknowledged their epilepsy, Alan Fanceca of the New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons’ own Jason Snelling.

Snelling spent April 15 speaking to families with a loved one suffering from epilepsy at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in Sandy Springs.

Running back Jason Snelling was instrumental in helping the Falcons down the stretch last season.

His 147-yard effort in the season finale against Tampa Bay was key to the franchise posting consecutive winning seasons for the first time in team history.

Snelling, who has epilepsy, is set to lead the National Walk for Epilepsy for the second year in a row on Saturday, March 27th on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Snelling wants to inspire youth with his condition.

This past Tuesday, running backs Jerious Norwood and Jason Snelling spent a very special evening with local children and their families of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The players accompanied the group to an Atlanta Braves game where the group got a chance to meet Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones and sit-in Chipper Jones’ suite to watch the game against the New York Mets. The children and families were all treated to food and beverages and had a chance to hang out with two of their favorite Falcons players.

NFL franchises are not exactly known for their tolerance toward health issues or physical limitations. So speaking out about how he was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 15 could draw extra scrutiny toward Snelling from league execs and player personnel reps about his fitness to play at football's highest level.
